Acoustic Guitar Strings & Accessories Of Note
A guitar needs to be played, it’s wood needs to mature and gain the wonderful tone of a ‘played in instrument’. Here at Fretsounds we spend a great deal of time sourcing quality preloved USED acoustic guitars. We are not interested in guitars which ‘have hardly been used’, or ‘haven’t been taken out of their case for years’, etc. And we are not overly worried about the odd light scuff mark as long as it does not detract from the overall quality and playability of a guitar. After all, those of us of a certain age rarely get through life without the odd ‘scuff mark’ or two ourselves…which may add a certain character.
Most of us need a bit of a ‘service’ when we get older, so if we feel that a guitar maybe improved by a bit of a tweak and set up we will make sure that it is done professionally. You can therefore be assured that the guitars that we choose to advertise for sale will be of top quality and thoroughly checked out - we at Fretsounds want to feel fully confident in passing on to our customers and fellow guitar players a beautiful preloved played in instrument.
Please do not hesitate to contact us via our Contact Page if you would like to arrange a viewing and try our guitars.
Preloved Acoustic Guitars For Sale
George Lowden talks about the quality of an aging guitar. (from an interview in Acoustic Guitar.com)
How much do you think the aging of a guitar affects its sound?
“It affects it a lot. The more you play it, the better it gets. There’s something about the three-dimensional nature of the tone in an older guitar that you cannot replicate in a new one - So I notice with older guitars that there’s this BEAUTIFUL TONE”.

We have for sale this lovely Taylor 514ce Grand Auditorium 2002 guitar. This is a classic and very popular wood combination and body size, ideal for both fingerpicking and strumming. A seriously great all rounder and very popular with top recording and performing artists. Sounding not only superb unplugged It also has the Fishman Prefix Stereo Blender Preamp which delivers clear, articulate sound with emphasis on string definition and attack. To compliment and contrast this pickup, a miniature electret microphone captures the guitars natural ambience and sound chamber resonance. This enables you to blend the pickup and microphone together for a powerful and cohesive acoustic guitar tone. Includes original Taylor case.
This Taylor Guitar is in very good + + condition and has a wonderful ‘played in feel and tone’. We recently had it professionally set up and added Newtone 12-53 Master Class Strings. It has a nice low action which makes it very playable. There is a slight ‘scuff’ mark on front bottom edge of guitar (as seen in picture) which is very light and not really noticed unless looked for. Also very light marks on part of edging and back which in no way detracts from the overall very good appearance and playability of this very fine guitar.
